LEGENDARY MUSICIAN ALAN GRAHAME’S 99th BIRTHDAY CONCERT
Saturday 18th July ‘26
Alan celebrates his 99th birthday with a special all-star jazz line-up at The Crooked Billet. Having made his stage debut at just five years old, he has been entertaining ever since. Performing in Soho’s jazz clubs in his twenties, his career soon evolved into television during the 1950s and 60s, when all broadcasts were live. He appeared on a daily lunchtime show and worked across the major variety programmes requiring a live band, including those of Tommy Trinder and Morecambe & Wise. Alongside his television work, Alan also toured extensively with Bing Crosby, Val Doonican, Two Ronnies, Benny Hill, Peggy Lee, Andy Williams, Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Perry Como, and many others.
As part of the BBC’s Top of the Pops orchestra, Alan performed with hundreds of disco and orchestral pop acts, including Gladys Knight, Barry White, Donna Summer, The Carpenters, and Dionne Warwick. He also enjoyed a massive No.1 hit single with The Simon Park Orchestra’s “Eye Level”. One of his most memorable moments was performing live and impromptu with Duke Ellington on The Parkinson Show.
In more recent decades, Alan has continued to tour extensively, formed The Alan Grahame Big Band, and become deeply involved in teaching and supporting the next generation of musicians. On Saturday 18th July, it is an honour to be part of this much-loved and legendary 99th birthday concert.
