Paul Jones & Dave Kelly reign supreme as the Kings of British Blues. They were at the heart & start of the British Blues movement, late 1950s/early 60s, along with Peter Green, Tony McPhee, Eric Clapton & John Mayall. PJ & DK formed The Blues Band in 1978 enjoying enormous success around the world. To this day, Paul Jones & Dave Kelly remain champions of the genre, headlining festivals & selling out theatres. Wednesday 5th June, a rare treat to enjoy such fine musicians within the intimacy of the Crooked Billet.

Paul Jones, English singer, actor, harmonicist, radio personality & television presenter first came to prominence in the early 1960s, as vocalist with the rock band Manfred Mann, enjoying numerous hit records. He continues performing alongside former Manfred Mann band mates in the Manfreds. Paul hosted The Blues Show on BBC Radio 2 for 32 years from 1986 to 2018.

Dave Kelly born 1947 in blitz bombed London, multi-talented slide guitarist & singer performing Soho’s early 1960’s Jazz clubs with Brian Jones (Rolling Stones). By 1965 Dave was playing floor spots in New York Greenwich village. Dave Kelly joined the John Drummer Blues band in 1967 signed to Mercury records. Dave is founder father of the British Blues boom with his friends John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Peter Green & Alexis Korner. The British Blues boom attracted many original US legends across the Atlantic. Dave’s extraordinary talent & smokey vocal made him the ‘go to’ guitarist & touring partner to Howlin’ Wolf, Jimi Burton, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Son House & Sonny Boy Williams. Dave toured the UK & Europe with these legends. Jimi Hendrix said of Dave Kelly, “Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel, Dave feels it real blue”.
