The hKippers

Wednesday 10th April ‘24

The Crooked Billet is thrilled to welcome back undoubtedly the quirkiest Bohiem muddle of musicians.

Jazz grooves collide with Euro folk, Gypsy jazz & anarchic humour in the strange world of this much acclaimed line-up led by Paul Bradley & Oscar winning composer Stephen Warbeck. It’s impossible to pigeon hole or categorise their music. Besides pigeon holes are for pigeons, categories for cats. Imagine the most bohemian Gypsy jazz, seedy back room bars, smokey jam sessions where Tom Waits, Django Reinhardt have enjoyed numerous bottles & perform together. The Cirque du Soleil of weird, strange, utterly engaging & bizarre. Seven brilliant, awkward & unusual including members of the Pogues, Passadena Roof Orchestra & fronted by TV & movie face Paul Bradley (Nigel Eastenders, Doctor Elliot Hope Holby City, The Young Ones). Movies including The Pianist & The Priest. Numerous West End productions including Mousetrap. Fronted also by Stephen Warbeck, musical Director of The Royal Shakespeare Company & multi award recipient, Oscar winning movie score composer. Scores include Mrs Brown (Billy Connelly & Dame Judy Dench). Billy Elliot, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, Shakespeare in Love & many many more. TV scores include Prime Suspect, An Inspector Calls, The Other Man & many more.

Predominantly acoustic - squeeze box, fiddle, percussion, mandolin, guitar, upright double bass, saxophone & woodwind. A wonderful, weird, amazing evening guaranteed.
